Open world games represent many of my favorite gaming experiences, but on multiple occasions I have found myself in way over my head and gotten myself “lost”. Sometimes it was my careless and curious exploration that was at fault, and other times it was the result of my own deliberate and poor choices within the game… either way, I would be completely lost without a “waypoint” to find my way back. But no matter where I find myself, the game still knows exactly where I am even if I don’t… and if I avail myself of its’ guidance, I’ll be directed safely back to the optimal path.

We all experience periods of time in our lives when we feel like we have hopelessly lost our way, but even the most wayward sheep is still being searched for by the Good Shepherd. He has never lost track of any of us… even in our most unlovable state. There isn’t a section on this map where we can become so lost that we are hidden from Him. He is watching for us and seeking us out as the faithful waypoint for every explorer, redeeming His repentant sheep no matter how high we have climbed up the wrong mountain or how far we have fallen.

For thus says the Lord God: “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day.” Ezekiel 34:11-12

And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. Luke 15:20
