There are game developers who I’ve faithfully followed for many years, playing each game they crafted with excitement… I trusted them because they’ve created some of my favorite gaming experiences. But even these skilled artists are limited by the platforms they are working with… and many times their intended designs don’t show up in the final product because the game engine couldn’t run them.
In tough times I wonder why the Lord doesn’t simply come to earth, put a stop to all the pain and suffering, and bring us peace… but the truth is He DID come down here to guide us into loving each other, and we all know how that went. His heart breaks for us… Jesus wept in the presence of death as He saw the pain it inflicted on those whom He loved. There is an unthinkably wicked enemy force on this planet with one focus… to steal, kill and destroy. But we have these promises that remind us that the Lord is near the broken-hearted because our omniscient Lord knew we would experience moments of pain and tragedy on this broken planet… and He promised to be fully present for us through each and every one of them.
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34:18-19
Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. John 16:22
