Even after all these years of successfully playing video games, there are still times when I get “stuck” on portions that feel impossible to beat. It could be a an incredibly cheap boss fight, a treacherous bit of platform hopping, or an unrelenting series of challenging battles that require a level of patience and perfection that I don’t currently seem to possess. When I have reached that controller tossing point and have lost any hope of breaking through, it can feel easier to simply give up and stop trying than to press in deeper, because the constant frustration is worse than the feeling of failure.
It’s easy to feel exhausted and frustrated when we don’t see any tangible proof that the Lord is acting on our prayers or reacting to our requests. But many times the answers we seek lie in the DEEP waters… far outside of our comfort zone, beyond where we were prepared to go, and long after we have hit our breaking point. Let’s not throw down the controller or lay down our nets, even if we are tired of this seemingly never-ending battle. Let’s listen for His voice and press on until we breakthrough… only shallow victories lie in shallow waters.
Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; all Your waves and billows have gone over me. The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me— a prayer to the God of my life. Psalm 42:7-8
