One of the savviest decisions Microsoft made when launching their controversial new online “Xbox Live” service was to give away the first taste of it for free… almost every game that I purchased came with a card for a free trial of the membership for anywhere from a few days to an entire month. My friends and I would coordinate when we would activate ours for a weekend so we could all play together, and after a few sessions we were hooked. While Microsoft could’ve kept the community small and limited access to those who would be the perfect ambassadors, their goal was to give everyone an invitation to the Xbox Live party.
As followers of Christ, we’ve been sent to bear and share His fruit to every soul that we meet, cheerfully offering free samples of His love, mercy, kindness and grace. While there will be times that our “samples” will be rejected, we weren’t called to take our fruit inside a safe space and insulate ourselves from the world around us that desperately needs it. Let’s make it our mission to not simply share Christ, but to SHOW Him through our actions today… we grow His kingdom by sharing His fruit.
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:5,8
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22
