When launching the original Xbox, Microsoft chose to make a game that was a brand-new, completely unknown property the star of the show… Halo: Combat Evolved. The story of a mostly silent space marine battling a group of alien forces for control of an ancient relic may not be the most original storyline of all time, but Microsoft saw the potential in the Master Chief before anyone else did and made their plans with Halo firmly at the center of them. Despite the lack of brand awareness for Halo or a previous track record of success, Xbox chose the Master Chief as the one to carry the flag for their system… and the rest is history.

While our enemy will seek to remind us of our lack of experience and limited capabilities in an effort to strip us of our confidence, the Lord built our potential into us before we were even born… and in His grace He made plans for us to carry His flag into our respective missions before we had any “qualification” for doing so. Let’s approach today’s challenges with the confidence of the primary character in a story designed to accomplish His will on this planet, and if we seek His glory we’ll find our purpose.
