Call of Duty: A Persistent Connection for a “Texture” Resolution

While the physical file size of each Call of Duty game has consistently grown larger over the years, the next iteration of Call of Duty is going one step further, requiring a persistent online connection to support texture loading from the cloud. With the game itself already taking up a robust 300 GB in hard drive space, this is a fairly surprising development, and requiring players to have continuous connectivity to play the game is rarely a popular choice. But for the game to deliver the next-level experience that gamers are expecting, it doesn’t just require more space on our console, it needs the ability to receive continuous updates in real time.

In our real-world, maintaining a persistent connection to Christ to guide us on what to say and when to say it is the only path to reacting properly to the ever-changing world around us. No matter how much space we make for the Lord in our hearts, we must also submit our tongues to His constant guidance or we’ll find ourselves saying things we’ll regret. Before we speak, let’s intentionally connect to Him and allow His Spirit to add the right “texture” to our words… and show us when to hold our peace.

But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. Matthew 10:19-20

He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit. Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive. Proverbs 17:27-28
