In many of my favorite games, there is simply no way for the protagonist to survive the story. Without sharing any spoilers, some of the best stories I have played end with a tough, self-sacrificial decision to be made… and the hero of the game doesn’t always get to see the outcome of the fruits of their labor. It is truly a bittersweet ending to know that after all the battles, trials, and challenges that they endured, the character who gave it all never gets to live in the universe they have saved.

We can rest assured that the hero of our story not only paid the ultimate price for us, but He STILL lives today and will continue all the way through the rolling of the end credits. And because Jesus Christ has overcome death, He can fully guarantee that all who have put their faith in Him will get to stand together with Him at the end of this battle and enjoy the victory that He fought, bled, and died to deliver for us.

For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God. Job 19:25-26

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:13-15
