With the announcement of “Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom”, Nintendo finally placed Princess Zelda herself as the primary playable character in a mainline Zelda title. While she’s never been a mere “damsel in distress”, always taking an active role in saving her kingdom, she has operated as a supporting character in the series of games that feature her name up to this point. Now it’s finally her time to shine, and all the years that Zelda put into growing as a beloved character with serious skills of her own instead of simply a princess needing saving are finally paying off. It took a long time to get here… but she wasn’t just waiting for it to become her time. She was preparing for it.

Many times in our lives we may feel like we aren’t even the main character in our own story… we see the Lord use others in powerful ways while we struggle in obscurity. But He has a place for each of us in the narrative He is writing, and if we will be faithful to draw near to Him and develop ourselves in these private places, He will reward us with opportunities at just the right time. Let’s put this time to good use and prepare… He will take care of the rest.

Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? Esther 4:14b
