Most of my earliest gaming memories were on the original NES playing Super Mario Brothers with my sister… but while we were both playing the same game with the same objective, we both approached the way we played the game VERY differently. While I zipped through each level as quickly as possible, she took her time collecting EVERY coin, breaking EVERY block, and engaging EACH adversary. I quickly grew frustrated with what I felt was an inequity in our play time, but the reality is we were both heading the same direction sharing the same goal… we just had very different play styles.
In the body of Christ, we’re all called to serve the Lord differently… some from positions of organized ministry, others in our workplaces, homes and schools. Some of us marry and have children, while the callings of others may be designed with a single-player experience in mind. But if we’re all following His unique role for our life, we shouldn’t be jealous of the gifts or callings another possesses or judge the way they were called to serve. Let’s be grateful for the gifts we’ve been given… and even more grateful for the gifts He has given to others.
Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand. Romans 14:4.
Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.” But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.” Luke 9:49-50
