While the Nintendo Wii console certainly had many highlights, the one game that definitively determined its’ success was “Wii Sports”. The simplicity and accessibility of playing games like tennis, bowling, and boxing not only gave us one of the most popular games of all time, it gave gamers a way to share their hobby with friends, parents, and even grandparents who would’ve never picked up a controller to play Fire Emblem… but Wii Sports made it easy for anyone to participate regardless of skill level. We just needed to bring it to them so they could experience it and see for themselves.
As followers of Christ, we have the privilege and the responsibility to bring His message to others in all of its’ simplicity… and when we overcomplicate His grace, love, mercy, and forgiveness we make approaching Him harder than He designed it to be. While pursuing the full depth of a relationship with Him is a never ending journey of personal growth, Jesus paid the price in full so our initial access to the Father could be simple and free. Let’s share Him in the same freedom and simplicity that we received Him… He WANTS to be found.
And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:1, 4-5
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
