Luigi’s Mansion: A Spirit of Fear

Luigi tends to play a supporting role in most of his brother Mario’s adventures, but the Luigi’s Mansion series of games shoved him directly into the spotlight… without his usual group of friends and allies to support him. Alone and in an unfamiliar environment, Luigi’s immediate emotional reaction is fear… but this mission was specifically designed with him in mind. All the tools he would need to press through the darkness surrounding him would be provided along the way… he just had to move forward in confidence that this game wouldn’t have his name on it if it wasn’t meant for him to play it.

The Lord will frequently lead us into places far outside of our comfort zones to complete the missions He has for us… and if our current situation is causing us to feel fearful or alone, that’s an indication that we are depending on our own strength and capabilities instead of His. The omnipotent God who knows the exact number of hairs on our head and tracks the location of every sparrow on this planet placed us in this position for a reason… so let’s find peace by fully trusting in His perfect love for us. He’s far bigger than what we’re afraid of.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18

Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31
