Superman 64: Moving on From Failure

The Nintendo 64 console was home to many of the best games of its’ generation as well as all time… but that doesn’t mean it always got it right. The same platform that gave us games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and GoldenEye also brought us one of the worst games to ever exist… Superman 64. But this debacle didn’t cause Nintendo to quit making games or even give up on the Nintendo 64 hardware… they just stopped releasing terrible Superman games and moved forward from this mistake. As a matter of fact, many of the N64’s greatest titles were still ahead of them.

We’ve all sinned and fallen short, so if the Lord was limited to using perfect people He’d have a pretty short list to choose from… and if our sinful mistakes disqualified us from serving Him, we’d need to get rid of every part of the Bible that isn’t written in red letters. From Paul and Peter to Moses and Jonah, the Lord didn’t give up on those who started wrong, denied Him, or failed Him. If His followers were ready to move forward in repentance, He was ready to move forward in forgiveness… so let’s dust ourselves off and write a new chapter today.

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:12-14
