While Nintendo is known for making some of the most successful and beloved hardware of all time, this doesn’t mean they haven’t been responsible for a few missteps… such as the Virtual Boy. Nintendo accurately forecasted the emergence of 3D gaming, but in their rush to be first they created a Frankenstein monster of a product… a non-portable system with a black-and-red screen display that caused eye pain and severe headaches for the poor souls who tried out its’ meager software offerings. In the future, Nintendo launched their much more successful 3DS handheld system, applying the 3D technology with far better results… it was the right idea and the right company, but it just wasn’t the right time or way for them to do it.

The Lord places many dreams in our hearts, but there is often a future time and place for the fulfillment of them. His visions provide us direction so we can develop ourselves towards His endgame, but if we aren’t patient we will make an “Ishmael” version of His plan that is a poor substitute for the “Isaac” He promised us. We can’t rush His process, so let’s trust in His timing. He’s never late, just later than we want.

And Abraham said to God, “Oh, that Ishmael might live before You!” Then God said: “No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him. Genesis 17:18-19

For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3
