Splatoon and a Painting Priority

While most competitive games in the shooter genre tend to focus on eliminating adversaries, Splatoon flipped this entire genre on its’ head by prioritizing painting prowess over traditional combat… to succeed, participants are tasked with using all of the tools at their disposal to conquer the blank canvas of their environment rather than each other. Victory isn’t achieved by targeting rivals… it belongs to those who are fully committed to changing the color of the world around them by brightening up every area they see, one splotch of paint at a time.

Every one of us are carrying a paintbrush that actively paints the world around us with color… and our actions, both intentional or accidental, leaves an impact on the souls of everyone we meet. With the lasting impression of our words and deeds in mind, what color palette will we choose to paint our environment with today? Are we dipping our paintbrushes into the same paint bucket of darkness and division as our opposition and expecting light to emerge? Or are we carrying a paintbrush dripping with the love, joy, peace, and grace from the Spirit of God? We’re all painters… let’s paint Him today.

To speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:2-7

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
