In the early days of gaming, strong female protagonists were virtually non-existent…so the reveal of Samus Aran at the end of the first Metroid game was a pretty big deal. But this subversion of an early gaming stereotype was exactly what this intergalactic mission called for… and for years she has faithfully served as the heroic bounty hunter we needed. Link and Mario were certainly the perfect fit for their specific adventures, but they didn’t have the necessary skills to solve the puzzles Samus was uniquely designed to handle… a heroine we didn’t even know we should be asking for.

The Lord’s answers to our prayers will often come in a very different manner than we are expecting… and if we are only prepared to accept His solutions to our problems on our terms, we will miss out on His Divine provision while we wait for our preferred resolution. Even Christ was rejected by the very souls that He came to save because they failed to recognize the Messiah in their midst… so let’s open our eyes and ears today in acceptance of how He chooses to answer us. His responses typically defy all of our assumptions and expectations.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
