Kirby and “We Are What We Eat”

Kirby has a very unique way of learning new skills in his games… he consumes an ability and then becomes capable of demonstrating that power. As Kirby literally becomes what he eats, he must intentionally choose what he absorbs based on what capabilities he wants to possess.  If his upcoming mission would benefit from the ability to wield a sword, he must seek out and “consume” that skill so he can use it later in battle… and if he doesn’t take time to absorb the most beneficial things, he can’t access them when his needs them the most. If Kirby only eats useless items, he will enter these battles unarmed and unprepared.

Our real world is full of content for us to absorb and battles for us to fight… and whatever we consciously choose to consume determines how prepared we are for these challenges. Time spent with the Lord in prayer and Biblical study arms us with the knowledge and skills to overcome temptations and tear down enemy strongholds, so let’s prayerfully consider what meets His criteria for beneficial absorption and “consume” that today… we are as spiritually ready for today’s battles as we choose to be.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22-23
