The journey of Anakin Skywalker from a simple child prodigy, to a Jedi hero, to the scourge of the galaxy, to finally fulfilling his destiny and bringing balance to the force may be a little hard to accept for some of us… and perhaps that’s because we don’t believe he deserved his final redemptive arc. Anakin’s fall from grace wasn’t simply a matter of having an alternate viewpoint on the Jedi order… he became a heartless, cold-blooded murderer who embodied the very evil that he had spent his life fighting against. And maybe that’s why his story still resonates with us… if there was still hope for such a bitter, undeserving villain as Darth Vader, then perhaps there’s a beacon of hope for all of us who have lost our way.

Christ didn’t come down to this planet to save the best of us from the rest of us… He came to save ALL of us. We are ALL undeserving of His grace, but because of His completed work on the cross, even the worst of us can receive redemption from our selfish, sinful decisions, turn from our past, and enjoy a “new hope” in home. No matter how far we’ve fallen, He still forgives… I know this because He did it for me.

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life. 1 Timothy 1:15-16 

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:16-17
