If you watched the original Star Wars: A New Hope, then you remember this well… that defining moment when Obi-Wan instructed Luke to let go of what he thought he needed for his mission (the onboard targeting system) and reach out through the force during his infamous “trench run”. While these displays and tools were intended to help him, Luke’s reliance on them was actually hindering him from achieving his goals… they restricted his sight to what was visible in the physical realm, blinding him to his only path to victory until he shut them down and chose to walk by faith.

Walking by faith is more than simply trusting in the Lord to do His part… it means consciously letting go of all of our perceived limitations and closing down anything in our lives that tempts us to lean on our own understanding instead of His. The Lord has promised to supply all of our needs, but many times His provision isn’t fully revealed to us until we’ve removed all of those distractions. Let’s allow the Lord to guide us today, even if we can’t see how it’ll all work out from our vantage point. Faith isn’t faith until we close our eyes and simply follow His voice.

We do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:1-3
