The events of the “Andor” series and the Star Wars: Rogue One movie finally revealed the amount of sacrifice involved in acquiring the Death Star plans, setting in motion the events that would lead to the Rebel Alliance toppling the Empire. The heroic actions of these flawed but committed rebels is best summed up in Luthen’s iconic line, “I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I’ll never see”. All of these fictional characters made massive sacrifices for a future they never got to personally enjoy… all because they believed that saving their worlds was a cause worth giving their lives for.

All who have chosen to follow in our Savior’s footsteps have chosen a life of service and sacrifice… and we may not get to see or enjoy the fruits of our labor on this side of eternity. But we aren’t simply giving our lives away… we are investing it so all can see the “Son” rise through our unselfish, sacrificial actions to burn our lives for His sake and theirs. We’ll all see the temporary flame of this life flicker out one day… we can use it to serve ourselves, or place it into His hands to share His light to the world. Let’s shine for Him… no matter the cost.

Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:24-25

He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. Matthew 10:38-39
