What do Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and Asajj Ventress have in common? While each of them enjoyed a season of being the prize pupil of a Sith lord, they were ultimately betrayed by the evil master that they had loyally served. They were each used, abused, and eventually cast aside once they became expendable because that is the way of the Sith. They weren’t loved or appreciated… they were simply a means to an end, an asset to be deployed when useful and abandoned when their purpose had been accomplished. They gave their entire lives to serve a master that never cared about them, and in the end they were played for a fool.

There are many enticing sins in this world that may seem to offer pleasure for a season, but from Samson to Judas, all who have taken a bite from that fruit have only found betrayal and heartache. Our sinful desires will promise love, joy and peace but can only offer pain and regret… while the path of following Christ and denying ourselves isn’t easy, we can serve a Master who served us first. Sin never loves us back and always leaves us high and dry… Christ loved us first, best, and never leaves us.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:7-8
