The mutually beneficial relationship between a Jedi Knight and their padawan is an interesting one… while neither of them are a “master” yet (sorry Anakin), both are actively giving as well as receiving what the other needs while still being learners themselves. While it might seem counter-intuitive to have someone who has not yet fully mastered a skill to be charged with the responsibility of demonstrating it to others, both participants are supporting each others’ growth in their common struggles through this dynamic… and from that shared place of need, they typically find exactly what they’re seeking through their unselfish service to each other.
The Lord doesn’t wait for us to feel we have achieved “mastery” of our current challenges and situations before using us to serve others. We are called to act as living conduits of His grace, comforting others in their moments of need with the same comfort we are actively receiving from Him. The little that we have isn’t multiplied by Him until we choose to give it away… so let’s freely offer His gifts of love and comfort to others today. We may find the answers to our own prayers in the process 🙂
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
